"Think like a wise man but communicate in the language of the people."
- William Butler Yeats
Communication and Creativity was the title of today's lecture, and the importance of it!
The beginning section of this lecture was all about different ways of communication between people and people throughout other generations
The WWII Generation, The Baby Boomers, Generation X, and The Millenials, each one of us is different in our own ways, so like Dr. V said, "Effective communication begins with an understanding of who we are as individuals" which I totally have to agree with. Dr. V mentioned some ways of how students act, who they are, what they do, and how they do things, which was really interesting because a lot of the stuff was true like being too wired, and focusing on the internet and what that entails
Unfortunately, he was also correct about how students and PEOPLE in general usually follow the rule of pulling out the cell phone in every social situation..
Now unfortunately, I also know that I am sometimes guilty of this as well, but I am trying to work on it! The "I forgot my Phone" video was really..inspiring, because I loved the personification of the absent person showing how alone you are because you've "tunnel-visioned' on your device.
I really liked the exercises for today's class, out of the 6 total, we actually only did 3 of them (well 4 including exercise 00), which was cool too :) It was more individual work, except for the first one about heroes and role models, which worked well, I ended up with the engineering boy from the very first day again, it was...more comfortable. Anyways, individual work was fun, Dr. V had to pretty much fly through the end of the lecture because time was running out!!
Anyways, see you guys next time, my Blogger draft is acting really weird and deleting stuff, hopefully it fixes next time!
